latest news:....thank YOU -since February 2010: 1.752 VISITORS on this Blog .

February,26th,2012 about 130 songs (about 260 drawings) now ordered by Peter Gabriel's CD's......food for thought: discover my text "Denkraum", (in German, 6/2011) about artwork , further down to this Blog.
January,12th,2012....a collaboration with the singer and songwriter Katja Werker arosed : Katja Werker is a excellent songwriter with a great voice. She even covered two songs from Peter Gabriel: Katja Romeyke created drawing - (brush/ink) versions (prints) of these songs: "here comes the flood" &" mother of violence".
In spring we'll make a step...we're going to present our work to Real World.

drawings complete

12 songs/12 drawings....the numerics show the order of the song on CD.From Peter Gabriel's CD "BIRDY" (Filmmusik),drawings 2005-2007.

Sind das auch Blindzeichnungen?
Birdy ist einer meiner Lieblingsfilme.
Peter Gabriel's Filmmusik ist sooo genial.Sind die Zeichnungen parallel zur Musik entstanden?
Wäre sowas auch live im Konzert denkbar?
Sorry, aber: viele Zeichnungen - viele Fragen.

Diese Zeichnungen sind alle, auf A4 mit Tusche, sehend, simultan zur Musik (CD/ im Atelier) entstanden. Das Zeichnen live, im Konzert wäre denkbar... (wow, das wäre toll) - habe ich in einem anderen Musik-Zeichnung Projekt "zeitgleichzeit" als Performance 2007 gemacht.

Katja Romeyke works/steps to pg-project

Katja Romeyke is a crossover artist. She studied arts (performance and painting) at Bremen and Saarbrücken (1989-97// Prof. Rolf Thiele, Prof. Ulrike Rosenbach (student of Joseph Beuys), Prof. Bodo Baumgarten ). While studying performance, she discovered the power of her works - in communication with the recipient. Now, performance is her ultimate means of expression, in combination with other artist media. Romeyke works in several media - (drawing, painting , installation, performance, multimedia, photo….) although the background and “heart of her works” always seemed to be the drawing. In 2004, after a Peter Gabriel concert at Hamburg, she decided to start an ultimate collaboration with other musicians/ artists in dialogue. (After that, for nearly 5 years, she had been forming a concept for an intermediate artwork in different notation systems.) First of all, a collaboration (2004-2005, roro-project, 150 drawings) with Armin Rohr (artist) , in final destination to pg-project , offered general access into drawing dialogues . Nevertheless Romeyke worked on her vision inside, to create a dialogue in different notation systems with musicians: Her second step on this way, includes a collaboration in live performance (voice & drawing: zeitgleichzeit), with Ralf Peter (countertenor), in 2005 -2007.

Armed with sufficient live - and drawing experience, first pg-project steps (drawings) have been recorded (video) in spring 2005. pg-project (work in progress) includes simultaneous drawings to all of Peter Gabriel’s music oeuvre from the beginning of his solo works in 1977.

Two varied (sighted/sightless), simultaneous drawings (meanwhile over 600) to each PG song… black ink on paper (brush & crayon): compare with single-line - drawing of Zen Buddhism.

Romeyke:” I do not try to tell stories, or imaginary pictures, I only draw in an immediate room of sound and silence…trigger pulse is the music. My body is a corpus /sound space with membrane, reflecting sound on paper. It’s a kind of meditation…awareness. These drawings image amazingly structures and pictures of inside, without any possibility to rationality in this short time (1-7 minutes…depending to the songs) It’s a tightrope walk of art as I am a crossover artist.”

The pg-project also includes: correspondence to Peter Gabriel (management), a number of live situations/ performances - for example: portraits (photo) of Peter Gabriel in live situations (when receiving the Musikpreis of Frankfurt 2005), or live – drawings

(at concert in Hamburg 2007 ,accompanied by German Television SR-Kulturspiegel).

pg-project includes several ways of communication… publicity of television and other media, or face to face delivery of the pg-project documentary (at Ludwigforum Aachen, in 2008 / photographer: Volker Bier, or 2010 at Paris / - sound check).

pg-project asks questions to behaviour of art and real life in crossover manner. Romeyke asks: “Is art (music & visual art…in dialogue between two notation systems) able to connect the reality of human beings who would never meet each other in real life?” It’s a Utopia…a polar project, of failure and success. It’s an artwork about the essence of art and life. “The journey is the reward.” This project features attributes to a total work of art, in that way.

Memorandum: pg-project dialogue arts & life project needs publicity. pg-project tries to raise a real dialogue between Katja Romeyke and Peter Gabriel (drawing and live music). pg-project is independent from final destination.

Denkraum

Februar 2012 // Gedankliches :
"Herr ich habe das Gebet vergessen, aber ich kann Dir die Geschichte des Vergessens des Gebetes erzählen" . Wer immer das schrieb (ich glaube, Lyotard war's ..), das ist der Punkt, an dem ich mich als Künstlerin wieder und wieder finde. Nun, dieser Satz ist mir schon seit Anfang der 90er eine Art Koan geworden, IN dem ich (im Arbeitsprozess) über Kunst "nachdenken" kann.
Ich spreche dann von einen Denkraum, der im Denken kein Sprachraum ist, weil ihm dafür die Organisation/Struktur fehlt …vgl. die innere Leere /-nicht im Sinne von “NICHTS da” - denn dort bewegt sich Vieles und lässt sich nicht halten. -Unausgesprochen - haltlos/- ein Raum als Nichtraum.
Die Frage ist: WIE halte ich das als Künstler/In auf Dauer aus, wenn ich feststelle, daß die Bedeutungslosigkeit der Dinge/Objekte in nicht (direkt) anschaulicher Kunst (z.B. im Prozess des pg-project) ,wie im Leben, gleichermaßen zeichenhaft auf die KUNSTPRAXIS ALS KUNST (Performativ) verweist?
Es ist gut, dann einen Raum (i.S. von Ort) zu wissen, Rolf Thiele nennt es u.a. “Kommunikationssuppe”, in dem (um ,mit der Suppe zu sprechen, innen drin/verinnerlicht/sich einverleibend ) über diese und andere Fragen der Sprachlosigkeit gesprochen werden kann.
Letztlich geht es doch um gedankliche Verdauungsprozesse und ritualisierte Schaffung von Plattformen/Räumen, auf denen solche Prozesse stattfinden können…das hilft, ganz banal ,uns Künstlern, durchzuhalten, weiter zu arbeiten.

PROJEKTBESCHREIBUNG
Das Peter Gabriel Projekt:"pg-project" ist eine interdisziplinäre , multimediale, künstlerische Arbeit im Dialog zwischen Musik und Bildender Kunst. -Beginn (initiation) Frühjahr 2005.
"pg-project" beinhaltet zunächst im Kern alle veröffentlichten songs von Peter Gabriel als s/w Zeichnung: Jeder CD - song wird einmal sehend (Tusche /A4 ) und eimal blind (Stift/A6) gezeichnet. Romeyke konzentriert sich hierbei auf das komplette Solowerk von Peter Gabriel. Der britische Musiker bekommt die Dokumentation der Sehendzeichnungen und einiger Blindzeichnungen im Laufe der Zeit vollständig-wenn möglich, sogar persönlich (=Aktionen zu Events, Konzerten, u.a.). Die Aktionen sind Teil der Arbeit. Die Zeit der Zeichnung entspricht der jeweiligen Songlänge. Gezeichnet wird grundsätzlich simultan zum Hören der Musik. (durchschnittlich selten länger als 5 Minuten) Dadurch entsteht eine erhöhte Konzentration auf die Musik - ohne inhaltliche, textliche Komponenten./Illustration (vorgefertigter innerer Bilder ) wird soweit wie möglich ausgeschlossen. Auch bildnerisch -formale Überlegungen geraten an die Grenzen des Möglichen. (Vergleichbar sind evtl. die sogenannten "Einstrich-Tuschezeichnungen "des Zen) Das zeichnerische Werk ist nicht die einzelne Zeichnung, sondern alle Zeichnungen zusammen ! Seit 2005 sind so ca. 600 Zeichnungen (2 von jedem song) entstanden. Diese werden archiviert und katalogisiert. Die Präsentation / Ausstellung der Arbeit als Gesamtkunstwerk umfasst später auch die Kontaktversuche zu Peter Gabriel (Doku), Auszüge aus archiviertem Infomaterial, Videomitschnitte vom Zeichenprozess einiger songs, EEG-Aufzeichnungen während des Zeichnens / - dies alles als Multimediainstallation . Dieser Blog ist auch ein Teil der Arbeit !

October, 21th, 2011... new blood de luxe edition arrived. - Drawings will begin pretty soon.

April 28th, 2011.... reorganizing the drawings in order to the CD's....and new posting. (work in progress)

September 30th, 2010..... 'new blood tour' in Mannheim.....SAP Arena ...I was there! ... personal art transfer was not successful (security at the entrance caught my "art -package"....they will pass it to Peter's management.) I made some short sequences of photo and film...question: how to make unusual photos ! You'll find hundreds of the same "snaps"in the Web.
Persönliche Übergabe der Doku scheitert an Security.... wird aber (evtl. ?) an PG`s Management weitergeleitet. Romeyke wurde am Eingang duchsucht... die SAP-Arena hat die schärfsten Sicherheitsbestimmungen der letzten PG - Veranstaltungen

March 26th : ...back from Paris/ mission "pg-project " was successful. .... third possibility , to transfer a "piece of pg-project" to Peter Gabriel confidential- during the sound check . This time, I handed a CD over to him. The CD contains drawings to his new " scratch my back" album, -including some coloured variations of black ink -drawings. I even made some live -drawings and photos during the soundcheck.

March 22th, 2010....... Romeyke is drawing live at Paris soundcheck for the 'new blood performance' /Peter Gabriel.
(Palais Omnisports,Paris/ Bercy.) These drawings will be posted very soon.
